1. General Principles of Bet Sizing
Bet sizing is the ratio of the bet size to the pot (bet/pot).
It is not chosen randomly. It is based on several factors:

2. Large Equity Advantage and Small Bets
One of the most counterintuitive points in GTO logic.
Why, with a large equity advantage, the bet is usually smaller, not larger.
Example:
BTN opens, BB calls. Flop: As 7d 2c.
BTN has many Ax hands (top pair), so BTN has a large range advantage.
What the solver does in such spots:
It bets frequently, but small: 25-33% pot.
Why:
- There is no need to protect the hand; it is already strong.
- The opponent cannot apply pressure because their range is weaker.
In theory:
- The larger the advantage, the more often and smaller we bet.
- The closer the ranges, the less often and larger we bet.
Why betting large with dominance is unprofitable:
- We fold out weaker hands that are already behind, losing value.
- We overinvest and do not gain equivalent EV from bluffs.
When sizing increases:
When the advantage is small or the board is coordinated (T98ss, J76r):
- The opponent has many draws.
- Equity is distributed more evenly.
- We need to protect equity and deny part of the range, so the bet is larger (50-100%).
Exceptions and nuances:
- Nuts and near-nuts can sometimes bet large even with an advantage to extract value and polarize.
- If the goal is equity denial, large sizes are possible even with an advantage.
3. Common Flop Bet Sizings
Typical bet sizes on the flop in modern GTO strategies:

Solver frequency trend on the flop:
- In position: about 60% of bets are 25-33% pot.
- Polar boards (A-high dry): small bets.
- Middle and low boards with flush or straight draws: large bets or checks.
4. Common Turn Bet Sizings
On the turn, ranges are more condensed and bet sizes increase.

BTN vs BB, flop Ks 7d 2c:
- BTN has a large advantage: bet 25-33%.
- Turn 9c, still dry: bet 50-66%.
BTN vs BB, flop Ts 9s 6d:
- Ranges are close, draw-heavy board: bet 66-75%.
- Turn 2c (blank): bet 75-100%.
- Turn Qs (card improving BTN): possible overbet 125%.
7. Turn Card Scenarios and Sizings
7.1 Paired Third Pair
Example: flop Kd 9c 4s, turn 4d.
Effect:
- The board becomes less dynamic.
- BB has few full houses.
- IP equity advantage increases.
Typical sizing:
- Small: 33-50% pot.
Reason:
- The board is static.
- We extract value from Kx and protect with frequent bets.
Result:
- Sizing: 33-50% pot.
- Frequent range betting.
7.2 Paired Second Pair
Example: flop Kd 9c 4s, turn 9d.
Effect:
- The paired card is strong for BB (9x).
- IP also has strong hands (K9s, full houses).
- Ranges are closer.
Typical sizing:
- Large: 66-100% pot.
Reason:
- Polarized play with strong value and bluffs.
Result:
- Sizing: 66-100% pot.
- Polar range, lower frequency.
7.3 Paired Top Pair
Example: flop Kd 9c 4s, turn Kc.
Effect:
- Large range shift.
- Maximum equity dominance for IP.
Typical sizing:
- Small: 25-50% pot.
Reason:
- Board is capped in our favor.
- We bet often, without needing protection.
Result:
- Sizing: 25-50% pot.
- Frequent cheap value bets.
7.4 Straight Completes
Example: flop Td 9c 4s, turn 8c.
Effect:
- Board becomes dangerous.
- Both ranges can have straights, IP more often.
Typical sizing:
- Large: 75-125% pot.
Reason:
- Polarization with value (straights, sets) and strong bluffs.
Result:
- Sizing: 75-125% pot.
- Pressure on BB defense range.
7.5 Flush Completes
Example: flop Kd 9d 4s, turn 2d.
Effect:
- Advantage for the player with more flushes, usually IP.
- BB still has some weaker flushes.
Typical sizing:
- Large: 66-125% pot.
Reason:
- Strong polarization: flushes vs bluffs.
Result:
- Sizing: 66-125% pot.
- Solvers prefer large bets or checks.
7.6 Overcard Appears
Example: flop 9c 6s 2d, turn Qh.
Effect:
- Card strengthens the preflop raiser.
- Range advantage increases.
Typical sizing:
- Medium: 50-75% pot.
Reason:
- Apply pressure to middle pairs without full polarization.
Result:
- Sizing: 50-75% pot.
- Value and semi-bluffs.
7.7 Undercard Appears
Example: flop Kd 9c 4s, turn 2c.
Effect:
- No meaningful change.
- IP keeps range advantage.
Typical sizing:
- Medium: 50-66% pot.
Reason:
- Continue pressure and deny equity.
- Small bets do not apply enough pressure.
