General Role of the Caller

Bluffing · updated 2026-03-08

A preflop caller is a player who enters the pot passively. This can be:

  1. Cold-call up to SB — often playing in position, range is closer to CO/BTN.
  2. Call in a 3-bet pot — no initiative, but often in position, with a hand of medium strength.
  3. Call from BB — always out of position, wide range including weak hands as well as strong connected ones.

Basic Bluff Tools
