Pot Odds

Terms · updated 2026-03-08

Pot odds is a basic poker math concept that helps decide whether to call a bet based on your chance of winning the pot.

Formula

Pot Odds = Risk / (Risk + Reward)

Example Calculation

Situation:
Opponent bets 2.7 bb into a pot of 5.4 bb.

Pot Odds = 2.7 / (2.7 + 8.1) = 2.7 / 10.8 ≈ 25%

➡ Your hand must win at least 25% of the time for the call to be break-even.
