A recreational player is someone who plays poker for fun, does not study strategy, and often makes major mistakes. Easily recognized by non-standard actions and chaotic style.

Behavioral Traits
- Plays inconsistently: sometimes passive, sometimes aggressive without reason.
- Loves to limp widely, especially at low stakes.
- Overcalls: pays off with hands like second pair, gutshot, weak kicker.
- No understanding of position, bet sizing, equity, or implied odds.
- Tends to chase draws to the river regardless of pot odds.
- Often calls just to see the opponent’s hand.
- Plays “by the card”: bets or calls when they hit, folds or randomly bluffs when they miss.
- Never balances: if they check, it’s likely weak.
